The McDevitt Building

In 1897, the McDevitt family moved their Providence clothing business into downtown Pawtucket, Rhode Island, just a few blocks from the Blackstone River, near the successful Slater Mill.  For many years the McDevitts reaped the benefits of this prime location.  They established presence in this building, which exuded bold, mid-century modern details and an unusual, geometric shape.  But once neighboring mills folded, the building went through various owners and tenants with seemingly fragmented visions.

Now this pattern of rigid transition appears to be changing.  The current owners of the McDevitt building have been tirelessly remodeling the existing structure, and a group of dedicated city residents are working hard to make the downtown district a more desirable place to work and live.  For those reasons Shri Studio has decided to jump in and make this process of urban revitalization a reality.
