Standard at Shri - Vinyasa Yoga

Shri Studio's standard yoga class is a vinyasa-based practice, in which breath-synchronized movements aim to re-pattern the energy within both your physical and energetic bodies, increasing your strength, flexibility and stamina.
 
Each class on the weekly schedule is appropriate for all levels of experience.  Classes, however, marked VIGOROUS VINYASA are the most athletically challenging.


Each Shri Studio vinyasa practice starts with meditation and breath work (pranayama) and moves into an ever-changing series of postures (asanas), incorporating standing and seated sequences, balances, twists, back bends and inversions.  (Vigorous/Heated VINYASA practices involve more arm balances and inversions and a faster flow.) 


Some classes are set to an ever-changing array of music (Alison and Caroline).  Some classes are silent, depending on the teacher.  The vinyasa practice concludes with a long, deep, luxurious relaxation, traditionally referred to as shavasana.  The culmination of these experiences, in one beautiful space, creates different levels of what we then describe as "flow."

 
At Shri Studio, certified teachers offer safe, hands-on assistance in all postures for each and every student who wants them, and modifications are always encouraged and demonstrated to achieve proper alignment.

In general, Anusara, Meditative Flow and Gentle classes are slower than vinyasa classes, which tend to be more athletic, more suitable for those yogis who wish to sweat by natural means through a more vigorous, physical practice.
