Vinyasa Yoga Instructor and Yoga in Recovery Program Director

Kate received her yoga teacher certification (200 hours) in 2004 from Tom Gillette at Eyes of the World in Providence, RI.  She is also a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Teacher and a Phoenix Rising Yoga therapist in training.

Kate was introduced to yoga while in college, and is deeply grateful to all the yoga teachers from different disciplines who have guided her practice and inspired her to share this transforming practice with others.

Kate's own dedicated vinyasa practice began about 8 years ago.  Vinyasa literally means "to place in a special way," and so her classes are created to flow on the breath and bring your attention to alignment, which can strengthen the body, improve flexibility, release unconsciously held tension and open lines of energy.   Classes with Kate are also influenced by the reflective self-observation of the Phoenix Rising approach, although she still appreciates the benefits of a hot and sweaty practice and incorporates this into many of classes.  Her teaching style invites students to presence, balance and reverence in the everyday, and is spiced with humor.  These classes will allow space for pranayama and dhyana, otherwise known as breathing and meditation (she has an ongoing 13-year meditation practice), and the principles of yoga.  With plenty of asana (postures), of course!

Pawtucket has become a second home for Kate, having worked in community organizing in the Woodlawn and Pleasant View neighborhoods for the past 5 years, first as the program manager for the award-winning Weed & Seed sites, and now as a volunteer performing seva with several local urban revitalization projects.

Come to yoga.  Revitalize yourself and you will begin to revitalize your community.  No separation.
